You guys have me concerned... I took a week off and left town withi the wife to get away and relax and I left the chooks in the care of my mum in law. She doesn't know anything beyond what I told her but there is nothing she could do that I would have if I were home during these super cold temps. Although we were home after some serious cold and they did fine.
I only have three birds, two hens and one roo.... I'm concerned for them of course but my question is, if they do suffer frost bite on their combs, do the combs grow back or are they forever trimmed?
I return tomorrow.... Hoping to find happy chooks! She hasn't mentioned anything bad but again she doesn't know what to look for...and again, nothing could be done differently than what she's already done. No chooks in the house and the coop is a very well built house....and with few birds I'm guessing the moisture isn't a problem.
Guess I'll find out tomorrow! Denver bound tomorrow afternoon...so good to go home and see the chooks, the pup and my little girl!
