Thanks for the weather lesson (but it doesn't make me feel any better about the cold) I'm over having ice cube in the waterers EVERY morning and afternoon.

Looks like we're in for a nice week, though-- nothing terrible on the horizon yet!

As for water-- does it makes sense for you to get a heated waterer? I ask like that because something its easier not to bother with a cord etc. I personally use a small aquarium heater in my bucket (it has water nipples). I wasn't around to see if the nipples froze (ok, taking a moment here to appreciate the humor behind that phrase if not read in the proper context), but the bucket stays in a liquid state. I have it on a timer that cycles on/off every 30 mins. So far the plan is working. I imagine if the nipples froze solid and then thawed, they'd leak from being broken by the ice (pause again to appreciate the weirdness of this sentence).

Saw Earl this morning and he was hopping around being all chicken-y so I imagine he's fine. The hens, well...it's Gwen and Cora...they have almost no personality, which is why I miss my dearly departed Rosamond even more. Earl is my only character now and his antics are more pathetic than funny. LOL He's a roo, for sure, but he doesn't fulfill the typical rooster stereotype. I swear he is either genetically challenged or has bantam in him because he's so tiny!

I would love to have a heated waterer but we've no electric in the barn. So.....waiting for that project. I think that's like........1 billion on the list

I know I should feel lucky and I do. BUT, I'm pretty ready for a change after 46 years. But I don't foresee that happening. I would LOVE to go to the Carolinas or there abouts down there.

That picture is too funny. It gets so windy here on the Palmer Divide that the chooks have to be 'plucked' one at a time from the fence. Just like little tumbleweeds.

I'd live in NC, i think.... beautiful coastal State... SC is nice, too, especially Charleston! But if I had to choose, I'd stay west coast... Oregon most likely. CA is nice but they're on a level of weird I can't always manage. LOL (i.e. my sister... she's special. She's Californian.)

Flying home yesterday I got a very nice tour of our mountains-- we're so lucky to be a part of this State with those amazing behemoths! The Winter has decorated them well so far this year.

In my family we say there are four seasons in Colorado. They are summer, fall, winter, and second winter (that can last till June). If there is a spring it is like two weeks and sometimes it seems like it appears between the two winters just to taunt us.
