I am doing an order for Ameraucana and Ameraucana Bantam chicks from John Blehm (chickhatchery.com). John is a very serious Ameraucana breeder and I've loved his stock.

If others would like to go in on the order, let me know! I'll be scheduling mid-March delivery if possible.

I do travel between my home on the Western Slope (Meeker/Steamboat area) and Denver *a lot*--so folks that could pick up in the Denver area or that could meet me along my travel route are very welcome to order with me.

Yes. I have all the needed items ready and the "brooder" is going to be our large bathroom floor. Took a bit of time to talk the wife into it, but I built it to show how easy I can keep things clean. She's onboard now!! With this cold weather, I couldn't put it anywhere outside. This is a temporary brooder made from large moving boxes. I am using some old flooring we had around from another "home improvement" job we did..LOL

This summer I am building a more "fixed" brooder. I have some kitchen cabinets from a friend that I will use to make a new incubator and brooder combo. If I get all the environment qualities right, I may use it outside.

Anybody every gone to the National Western Stock Show? I understand that the chickens move in Sunday and the judging is on Monday. Is this a good opportunity to meet local breeders? Is monday probably a better day to go? Will the chickens be moved out after Monday?

Poultry

A popular National Western exhibit for visitors of all ages, poultry and rabbit display is located on the third floor of the Expo Hall. More than 50 cages of each species of these small farm animals are on exhibit for the duration of the show.

Poultry is a major food product worldwide. The fowl display includes chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese and other feathered animals such as pheasants, quail and guineas. The poultry show runs during the first weekend of the Stock Show. The show takes place January 16, 2012 at 9 a.m. in the lower level of the Stadium Hall.

Yeah Smith, thanks. I checked out their schedule which is why I knew the dates. Just have never been to one and have no idea what to expect, just cages of birds, or the owners nearby to talk to and all. Are you going, have you gone before? How's your build going. I keep thinking I'll drive that direction and take a peek to see if I can find your operation. But, I'm so sore right now from digging out my coop foundation that I'm not moving around too much. Ha Ha in a sick kinda way!

No Problem. I also found the schedule, so it looks like the birds will be release to their owners at 6 PM and be gone by 9 PM on Monday. I've never been to the show but would like to someday.
The build is slowly progressing. Picked up some more scrap lumber, so we now have another roof on a small coop, and I will be starting the new brooder this afteroon if all works out right.....Your'e welcome to come by, Let's talk and set up a time, as sometimes my schedule can be a little wierd. Afternoons are usually good, but sometimes we have doctor's appointments (wife has breast cancer) and sometimes 1A girls Basketball games (my youngest plays for Hanover) Shoot me an email or PM, and we can set up a time if you want. It also helps get directions, as some find it easy to get lost....
