Thank you. I'm worried about it jumping the ridge north of the AFA and making a beeline east with the wind. If it gets into that break in the mountains and heads east, there nothing stopping it until Kansas.

Snarkey comes with the current situation.I wonder about how much of some of these "reports" are factual, and how much isn't. I know there is always lots of speculation during disasters and other events like the one we are experiencing. One day when we can all sit and talk remind me to tell you all of a passenger jet crash in central california in 1987 and the news media.... Lets just say I have a low opinion of many of them. If it is true that there has been a person setting fires, I hipe that person is caught and punished to the fullest extent of the law. Same goes for whoever set the Waldo fire. I just hope this afternoon doesn't bring another round of yesterday.
Hi all, thanks for the kind words and thoughts. I am typing this from a mcdonalds over in stetson hills. I have no idea about my house, i am hearing that the fire did not jump centennial but i am not sure about that. I ahve been a teacher at chipeta for 8 years and hav elived here for 13 years. Its devestating to see the destruction. I believe trailblazer and chipeta are ok. I am sooo sad about the flying w ranchi still cant beleive that this really happened. Just mind blowing right now.![]()
Like i said earlier, my art teacher at chipeta offered to take my chickies onmonday (they also hace chickens) and i agreed, wow that was the best decision ever. I know my girls would have suffered or died in the air or ashes last night. Plus o cant imagine how hard it would have been to move them and set up a new home amidst the chaos.
I wish I could offer more then moral support but I hope they get this out soon and you and your chickens can go home. I am glad you had a place to keep your chickens so they would be safe. I also hope you have someplace better then mcdonalds to sleep.![]()

this photo was on the denver news channel website..... this is just heartbreaking
The good thing about fires out here on the plains is that they're easier to put out because fire breaks are harder to jump (no trees). The bad thing is that they move very fast with little to no wind. The last chance fire burned 45,000 acres. It started and was out in two days. It moved fast, but they were able to get it put out thanks in part to farmers and their big equipment making good fire breaks. All that said, it'd have to burn alot to get to a place where they could stop it that easily, so I'm crossing my fingers that this situation doesn't happen.Thank you.
