So.......
I went out to work on the hen house foundation boards with my friend Dale from Seattle... I was attempting to insert a screw, and Dale was holding the boards..... Dale had just cleaned out the post holes.... The Phillips head slipped off the screw and went into Dales hand, and he yanked his hand away, pulling the drill out of my hand which put me off balance. I put my left hand down to catch myself, only to put my hand into the post hole, which went to the bottom. Dale is holding his hand thinking bad thoughts, while my face is stopped from hitting the ground by the blade of the shovel. Good news, the shovel is OK. Dale has a 1/4 inch deep hole in his hand in the shape of a Phillips head, while my face looks like it got hit by a shovel. Oh yeh, it DID!
Laughing as I write this, and making my face hurt.

Hot dang I'm glad no one lost an eye!

Fire update, and hopefully the last one! We can't see anything aflame in town anymore, and there are only a few small spot fires up on Blodgett peak now. The wind is gone, temps are way cooler, and we got about 10 minutes of good rain an hour ago. If this keeps up they may just get it licked :)

So today I have to decide whether I'm just going to lay the orange barricade stuff over my bird netting to provide some shade, or go all out and try to create some kind of arch over the run so that it will shed rain/snow in the future and not cave in from the weight.

Would like to take care of it all in one fell swoop, but haven't got a good plan in my mind yet. Guess I'll spend some time in the coops/run section.
