Well Pecker is gone....we took him to his new home today. I'll miss him.

anyone have any experience with chameleons? My hubby saw a baby one...about 2 in long, at the pet store today and he fell in love with the thing.
I'm thinking of purchasing it, or one similar for his birthday next month but i have no experience with any reptiles (unless you count the turtles and toads i used to catch as a kid).

I plan on doing some research, but figured it couldn't hurt to ask around as well.

Well, I think the progress by both Wendell and MO is terrific. My progress on putting in some more overhead shade amounted to going to Home Depot and getting some more lock ties. Heheheh, progress is progress, at least I'm not standing still.

Rock, How nice of you, you even packed his clothes for him. Hope he likes his new place for however long.

Well, maybe not much progress on the run, but I DID get the first veggies (other than salad greens) from my garden. I cannot begin to tell you how nicely all my squash and melons are progressing. Today I got...... 3 cucumbers (these are NOT doing too well), 5 zucchini, 1 spaghetti squash, about a dozen beets. I was so psyched I went out to the farmers market to get a few things to add to them. Came home, fried up some zucchini, sweet onions, garlic, put that inside what was going to be a plain old grilled cheese sandwich. YUM YUM.

To all you new people. In case you missed it, and didn't just not fill it out cuz you wanted to keep it a secret....If you go to your community profile, you can fill in the 'location' part with either the 'name of the town, CO' or even Front Range, Western Slope, NE, NW, SW, SE, Plains, whatever. That way we can tell just by looking at the left hand part of the screen where you are and won't keep asking. It helps sometimes if people are asking for or giving advice to know what kind of an environment they are in.

Hello fellow Colorado folks! I live in Denver and am new to owning chickens. My boyfriend and I just built a coop for our (well really mine since he didn't have a say in all this) chicks. I adopted six chicks that were hatched in the kindergarten class I work in. They hatched on my birthday so I was a little attached! Unfortunately I believe that 4 of the 6 are roos. Our plan all along has been to have 4 so I figured taking six chicks I would have a better chance. I have yet to hear any crowing (thank goodness for my neighbors and since I can't have roosters in Denver) but they are only 6 weeks old. Anyone have suggestions what I can do with the boys, I have grown too attached so eating them is not an option for me and if someone else wants ok but to I just don't want to know about it! And then I will be looking for one or two pullets to fill the empty nests. Here are a few pics of the chicks and the coop. I really enjoy these forums, I have learned so much, maybe a little to much!
