Colorado

Jeez!!!!
I love living in the County........I build, grow and raise......heck with the people that want to tell me what I can and can't have on my 36 acres!!!

Plus.......if it's on my property...I feel threatened......it meets the 270!!!

I wish, my husband and I want to get some land. After living in an HOA for 12 years we are both a little over the being told what to do, legal fees, and no backyard. Maybe once I get back to work we can get this house fixed up and get the 10+ ( I want near 40) acres and no neighbors as far as the eye can see. I like neighbors but only on occasion.

Side note: Does anyone know where to get flax seeds in bulk cheep?

Why do people have to be such jerks? We came home from our lovely vacation to a CITATION on our front door for having "weeds and grass over 9 inches tall" from the local witch-with-a-B calling to complain on us. Can you believe that's actually a crime in Colorado Springs? About 1/10 mile away there are HORSES and verdant fields in the same neighborhood, but our front yard grass is too tall. One of the reasons we moved into our house is because it has NO HOA and neighbors can't be bothersome, but this lady takes it upon herself to call code enforcement. The citation only has the code officer's name but we know it's a lady complaining because she has written nasty notes to us in the past (and put them in our mailbox which is a federal crime) in big flowery handwriting. If only we could find out who she is and REALLY give her an earful. How cowardly is that to sneak around with notes and phone calls to the police instead of actually, you know, talking with your neighbor?
She must be new because last summer our yard was really overgrown and nobody gave a ****.
I can't wait to live in the country somewhere far from busybodies who have nothing better to do with their time.

There is a nice house about 1 mile from us that is for sale......5 bedrooms, 6 acres. There is another that is only 2.5, so it is zoned different than us. Nearly everyone has some sort of livestock. Pigs, Donkey, Chickens, Peacocks, Goats, Horses, etc.

This is a bad photo of our squatty pullet. She is the one in the middle, facing to our right. To the left of her is one of the Dominique cockerels, and the ones to the right of her are some other Dominique pullets. All but her are normal size. All of them were the same size when hatched. Her legs are short, her neck is short, her body is short, but it appears like she is plump and healthy. If no one wants her, she will become dinner at the same time as we process the extra cockerels.

When I bring back your incubator, I can take her and put her in with my flock. I'm sure she'll feel right as home with the cuckoo marans. :) My Oxine should be delivered tomorrow and then I'll disinfect the incubator and get it back to you. It's been cleaned with just soap/water and soaked in the vinegar water but want to make sure it's super, duper ready for the next time you incubate.

Sooo ridiculous! This is why we want to leave south Florida. Were tired of being told how to live!!!! I live in an HOA community and unfortunately the president of the HOA lives next door to me! LOL it really isn't funny she makes us INSANE about everything I could write a book. Last month we were cited because our trash cans were visible (seriously) and we were told to pressure wash the front of the house because there were a few spots of green algae (we have cedar shake siding). It wasn't even that noticeable, but besides the point I'm tired of being told how to live! So I feel all of your pains, everyone who posted on this subject. :)
PS, I know we don't have to actually leave the STATE to get away from the HOAs and stuff, LOL, but we wanted to relocate out west and Colorado was the winner :) I just didn't mean to sound like Florida is one big HOA, there are some beautiful parts too. Sorry for the long post, but it was just nice to not feel like the only one dealing with their ****!

Small switch in gears...
Are pin feathers an issue on a two week old chick? My white EE has many (100?) Pin feathers coming in on her wings and back. Noe of the other 4 chicks have them. Need to worry or just wait it out?
Thanks,

Worry wart Mo

Sounds fine.
