Went to Big R today, and saw the price of those pre-built coops as we walked in....$1600!!!! Holy cow. Once again I was very happy we were able to salvage a bunch of wood from a corral in our backyard. I couldn't imagine spending that much, and it was kinda small too. I give props to who builds them though, they're super cute.

Built the nest boxes today......
How do you alllike Beths sombrero?

Now there's a Chicken Lady for ya....

Tonight was fun! We had Ribs, Cornbread and Corn. I figured that the chickens would leave us alone while we had our picnic because they usually do when they free range. Except, the Fud lady had food.... Wasn't using my head for that one. Cuckoo the biggest idiot (injury prone) in the bunch was relentless, I think because she's spent so much time with me that she's comfortable coming right up to us. We were constantly batting the chickens away until we had bones and cobs that we could throw for them. At one point in time my husband was using the paper towels like a bat. He rarely connected, but it was pretty funny looking anyway. My yard now has rib bones and corn cobs all over the place. Whee!

Proud "parental" moment... my five 2 week old (well two weeks and 2 days, but who's counting?) chicks finally went up the ramp and put themselves in the coop tonight. A little coaxing from my DW to get on the ramp and an hour of up and down up and down. Finally five in the hole ... no more nightly chicken wrangling for me. SWEET!

Yeah, but BigR was having a sale here in Security today 15% off. What a savings, LOL.
