Colorado

Who knew getting an AC unit for the house would be soooo expensive? I'm ready to give up and say, "eh, it's almost winter anyways" my husband says we need to get it now. Like the worst part of him deploying is my lack of cold air? Lol. Anyways...owning a home is stressful, although you couldn't pay me to move back onto a base.
Any suggestions? Thoughts? Bits of wisdom?

I live east of 24. This year, I have not killed myself inside. I keep the windows closed and the shades drawn during the day. At night, I put fans in the windows sucking out the warm air on one side of the house and drawing it in on the other. I have a small evaporative cooler for whatever room i'm in but don't need it at night. Some days, I still get up to 87 but the last week or so, it's been consistently comfortable (75-82). When the cool front came in, I actually turned everything off. It was nice.

I HAVE PIPS!!! One Silkie egg and one of the LF eggs Coloradogal gave me! It's only day 19 to boot!

Step away from the incubator...

How many more are possibilities for hatch?

I have seven eggs total under that grumpy hen! Three of the four you gave me (the fourth never kicked off, empty at day 14) and the four Silkie eggs. I am not good enough at candling to tell if anything is wrong later in development so I am taking the hands off approach. I am sooooooo anxious now!

it's very exciting... but I'm sure much easier that the eggs are under the hen. Watching them pip under the incubator was sheer torture.

Chicks are okay - no coryza! Upper respitory infection. They are all on antibiotics and nose/ eye drops. Went to Dublin Animal Hospital. They were very nice. He said that chiks with Coryza stop eating, and just want to lay around and the mucus is really thick. Whew!
Thanks everybody for the wonderful advice.
