Wendy,
Here are a few photos my daughter just took of my Doms

Show stock cockerel #17

Show stock cockerel #11 and two Cackle pullets

Show stock cockerel #8

Cackle pullets

Cackle pullets

#17 cockerel and cackle pullets

Cackle pullets.

She didn't get any shots of our show line pullets. Again, they are larger and lighter colored than the Cackle pullets.

I plan on getting NPIP done sometime after we clean out pen 1 (process the cockerels) and start hatching in the spring. Did she indicate how long it takes to schedule, and test?

She said for small flocks like mine (I only have 7 girls) I would need to ask their scheduled times to be in Pueblo for someone else - she was here for the Fair, so met me in the parking lot at her hotel, I loaded the girls into two dog crates, and also had a large wire crate in the car so I had a place to put each one after she had been tested, so given that the testing has to be done once a year, I guess I will try to connect with her every year at Fair time. For those with larger flocks they will go right to your place, but I never asked about how long the scheduling takes because I knew I wasn't eligible for it. Her name is Kristy Pabilonia, and her email address is [email protected] - she has given my contact information to another person, Sarah Millonig, who is the program specialist, but I don't have her contact information yet. When I get my snail-mailed paperwork I'll let you know if there's more contact information there.

Thanks for all the info! :)
Yep all of those photos were of the same chick.
Her?? name is Henrietta
I purchased 4 chicks at Kiowa County store in Elizabeth CO
on April 20th, 2012
She has been lovingly raised by hand, well handled, and quite spoiled too!

So far i have had to give Rosemary to a Wonderful farm family (turned out to be a roo)
and this was after being guarenteed that 95% accurarcy that these were
sexed chicks. Chicken math is not working in my favor!!!

Not sure what to do, but I live in Mountain Shadows and can not in any way
have a rooster. Just sad that my flock of 4 might only end up being a flock of 2!!!

Thanks. I will contact her in a month or two. No need to test birds I will be processing shortly.....

Oh Happy Day (sing along now) Look at the front of her legs and also her beak. Dark legs and black on the beak. Her tail is straight. She is fairly dark. You have a pullet with a huge comb. She may grow into it...... but she will probably lay nice medium sized eggs. If she hasn't crowed by now, she's not a Roo! :) Also, compare her to my Cockerel photos. She is two weeks older than mine. If she was a roo, you would most certainly know it without a doubt by now! Not sure where the Kiowa store gets their chicks, but she is definitely from a hatchery. My hatchery pullets are WAY more friendly than my show line pullets.

All my pictures are of the same bird (I only have 3 now- a buff orp, and a black austr, and a dominique)
as for age.. arrived at the store on April 20th, so about 17 weeks old. I can post a picture of my other birds so you can see
her size for comparison.

From your photos it seems like Henrietta looks more like your cockerels than your pullets. Big comb, yellow legs, ect
Would you want another roo? Wendy

oh yeah!! I was just about to upload her baby chick photos!! (yep I have each of my girls well photographed!)
Are you sure I shouldn't be worried about that comb? It doesn't look anything like my other chickies combs.
Wendy
From those shots you have a dom pullet. Lets just say shes........well endowed...... At that age a cockerel looks WAY different. He would dwarf the pullets. Compare how she looks next to the pther pullets. They all have basically the same overall shape. A Dominuqe cockerel at 17 weeks would be waking you up at 5 AM. Trust me! His tail feathers would have nice sickle feathers with a VERY noticable bend. Did I mention LOUD crowing early in the morning? Your neighbors would have already turned you I I think.

LOL Happy Day indeed for Wendy! I was wondering if she wouldn't have been crowing by now if she was a he. Beautiful cockerels, Wendell, #11 is certainly precocious compared to the others, isn't he? He looks way ahead in maturity.

I was just at Big R in Pueblo and they have chicks again, apparently they had one delivery and sold them all, and just got more a few days ago, some straight run and some pullets. Tempting to bring home a new baby or two, but I'm really not set up for brooding young chicks right now no matter how cute they are :)

THANKS!

The kids and Beth call him Shrek...... He's always been the biggest. He is on our short list for keeping, but #23 and #8 are looking real good. #17 has a bum toe that we don't want to breed in.
