So we have decided. Talked it over with the family, and some friends, and Beth and I over-rode them all.......

As he will be the "Patriarch" of our flock, we will go in patriarchal order.......

His name will be Abraham, Abe for short.

That way the next keeper will be...Isaac, and so on.

From a very light brown to a medium brown.

I don't think my two are laying yet then. the newest eggs are still fairly dark, between a 6 and 8ish on the egg scale. I did find a very, very small very light egg yesterday and found a soft light brown egg tonight so perhaps they are starting. they are still so very beautiful and so sweet.

happy plucking tomorrow.

Probably just starting. We got three or four soft ones a couple of weeks ago. All under the roost in the litter. I think they layed without knowing.....

Just came in from putting 6 cockerels in the wire kennel, and then the kennel inside pen #2 coop. If we have time for more we will just catch them.

It didn't take Abe long to "get into the swing of things" so to speak........ He's already taking care of business with some of the pullets. Its good to know at least that he isn't clueless. While #11 was in with him, i don't think he dared.

Got 6 processed. Only took a little over two hours start to finish. It would have been faster, but I was instructing 5 novices at the same time. .Next time it will go faster. I need to modify the plucker. It did ok, but the motor is worn out and couldn't handle too much pressure. I will post the video when I get it edited. It is WAY too long. Everybody got to gut their own. The girls did better than my sons! We cut up 4, and left 2 whole.

I've never processed chickens but that sounds like you did well!
