Been off a few days so trying to catch up.

Wendell, I was contacted to have testing done on my flock next week too. I just have to call and confirm.

I didn't know the barring was dominant. That would explain why the babies from the last hatch all looked so much alike, even the ee crossed ones were very similar in looks.

Today my RIR went to his new home and 9 babies went to their new homes too. For the first time in what seems like forever, I have no baby chicks in the house. Incubation for my brother starts next week and then I'm done for a while. If anyone has any eggs they'd like incubated for early spring laying, let me know and I'll just add them to the ones I'm incubating.

I haven't been on much the last week or so as my mom has been keeping me busy. it's exciting to see all the new people on the board checking in.

I am not sure, our house was on .11 acrea, and then there was a house, plus a large deck, so the left over backyard held 12 garden beds (16 feet long and 3 feet wide) with pathways between. Not sure what the square footage was. Hope that helps some.

I'm guessing that unless you had a lot of overlap, you probably got a 50' x 20' roll then? Just guessing that each of your beds is separated by at least a foot-wide walkway, so that is just about 50 feet with 12 3'-wide beds. It is possible the other dimension is less than 20, just used a rounded-to-10s estimate.

If that's right, then it's about $5 a square foot ($1000 sf / ~$200), which is worth it if it holds up. Right now I don't need that much, but it might be the smallest roll they sell, still have to call and find out if they even still have it.

Wendy do you know if it can be cut into smaller pieces? Or will it unravel?

Hi All Let the girls out this morning and my Ancona (Panda) and she / he was pecking, pecking at one of my Black Australorp then tried to mount her over and over and chased her. She is the one who is te reddest and squats when you o to pick her up. Panda ignores all the others. So is she a he? Panda should be about 21 weeks. Here is a couple of pics Thanks Tracie

our pathways were 3 feet wide, and yes we cut into sections and I used large saftey pins to "sew" seams together. I think I spent about 200 dollars and it has held up wonderfully!

We just moved this week Out of our crazy HOA neighborhood and into a house with 3.5 acres and no HOAs or covenants.
We are planning a much bigger chicken area and a super big garden and green house. My chickies are amazed at their new space!

Hmmm. Did a search on line for Ancona Roosters, as I'm not real familiar with them. The roosters in the photos seem to have larger tails and combs than the photo you posted. Perhaps you have a dominant female?
