Hello Peeple,
I was wondering about putting a colored light for working with the girls, and thier "ol man" at night in the coop. You know, like a red light won't spook game animals, at night 'cause they can't "see it" . Does this have the same effect on chickens? I'm still going to have a "normal" bulb, just on a SPDT switch. Up for red. Center off. Down "normal". What do you think please?

When I have to go in the coop at night I take a penlight with me, one that is red or one that is blue.
Regular flashlights get them up and moving around too much.

The red light bulb will be fine at night - this is suggested for brooders since it won't bother the chicks like a regular light bulb can. Work away all you want after dark, but be quiet! LOL!

Thanks for the input. I'm gonna wire it this week. They won't let me near 'em, unless we have treats, and still, no touching or picking 'em up. we got them as teenagers.
