Colorful Egg Basket

Agreed. White is so so pretty. I used to think white eggs were “commercial” eggs and brown eggs were “farm fresh”, but now I miss having the white. Eh, at least I have my duck eggs!

I love having a good white layer in the mix, and you just can't beat a production bred leghorn, imo. I also keep crested cream legbar, olive egger, Easter egger, marans or welsummer, various shades of brown from cream (my orloffs) to medium (my calico princess rockstar that gives 6 jumbo eggs/week), wyandottes, etc....
I rotate birds in/out annually so am always changing breeds.....this years flick after rotation will be:
Calico princess
Light brahma
Delaware
Speckled Sussex
Whiting true blue
Whiting true green
Crested cream legbar
Midnight marans hybrid
White leghorn
Buff orp
Saphire olive egger
Salmon faverolle
(+/- a bird or two pending final cuts)

I'm in Australia and our commercial eggs are brown so I added a leghorn into my flock for some white eggs.
most of my flock lay off white, cream or light tan so I got some araucana and easter egger pullets for blue and green (maybe some pink). next to add is black copper marans, welsummers and Barnevelders for darker eggs and to use to make some olive eggers

I have a Polish and another white egg layer. I'm loving the dark brown eggs my Copper Marans lay. Can't wait for my Americaunas (The Twins) to start laying, hopefully sometime in June. I'm excited to see blue eggs. I have a couple of light brown layers, too. I can't remember what they are off-hand. I thin Wyndottes. My Silkies will start laying in the Fall. Their small eggs are cute for Deviled Eggs.

I love my OE eggs, but I'm waiting for my Cream Legbar to lay. I love white eggs as well! These are my OE 2nd and 3rd eggs she's ever laid, she just started laying 4 days ago. I'm like a child going out for eggs every morning
