True Ameracaunas always lay blue eggs. A reputable breeder is important to finding a true Ameraucana.

My leghorn red mixed lay ranging from bright white to light tan to light pink. My reds lay anything from dark brown to light brownish pink. I stumbled across this post after posting a thread about chicken breed suggestions which included egg color. Thought I was crazy

Oh, and Orpingtons do not lay blue eggs. Shades of brown only.
