Colors and Patterns - Vocabulary and photo examples.

So a work in progress... the original file is a vector drawing... and I still need to illustrate the shapes of the different wing feathers... but you get the idea...

Now... This is meant more to key into the calculator, which talks about ground color, and patterns separately. I can select each shape on the whole bird up there and change the color, likewise, it's nothing to illustrate pattern and color on the individual feather shapes.

My original idea was to just collect examples of each pattern type and color, and put together a document that gives you the correct term and a visual example of that term. Simple. And I'll still do that with what I learn from working with Henk.

Thank you... This is a standard rooster shape of course. I'll do one for a standard hen too. That should really clearly illustrate some of the sexual dimorphism's in feather shapes.

I think too it might be fun to illustrate the different body types of the various breeds. Some being smaller bodied than others and all.

Sometimes it's easier to really understand differences and similarities when you can see them all together versus read about them separately.

I hear you!!! It's like coat colors in quarter horses!!! I prefer other breeds, they don't care about coat colors, so I have only to define 4 colors! Much easier!

I just k ep reading in hopes I can eventually see the diferences.

Love your work so far!! Here is a problem I didn't grasp until recently. With this particular side view, you actually can't see that the breast feathering, which in some breeds is important. For instance ,and I'm a newbie, not a pro, in thebblack copper marans, the breast color is black but in the neck area some rust coloring is allowed, and actually desireable , and this diagram would not reveal this. Love your lay out--quite ingenious.

I can edit the shape of the cape/hackle area to kind of come up in the front and show more of the breast area so as to provide a general guide for those breeds as well.

Vector art is all about edit-ability.
