Comb and Wattles Looking Dry and Flaky

Great job! I'll have to grab my guy off the roost because he has a real stinker for a flockmate. I've got one more trick to try on the jerk and then I'm done. Thankfully the one that needs treatment is a gentle giant and always has been (although he was absolutely terrified as a chick and avoided contact by any means necessary ~except for being aggressive) Please keep me posted on your guy. Does he have a name?
Teddy, he is so sweet you can hug him like a Teddy bear

Wow! I'm so sorry. You mentioned his name and I have no idea how I missed it. Well, actually I bet it's my ADHD as it's been bad lately. My apologies. I'll be thinking about you and your sweet Teddy. May I ask how old he is and what breed?

My poor Teddy does not seem to be improving. The Blukote eventually started to flake off of his comb, and underneath it was still nasty, raw & peeling skin with spots that bleed. I really don't know if this is favus. It isn't pox. His comb just seems raw.

I cleaned off the old flaky Blukote, sprayed with this wound spray that doesn't sting, it has tea tree. Then let him get some fresh air & sunshine, take a dust bath. I wanted to see if it would dry up & heal. He eats, drinks, crows but when I looked inside his mouth is was pale. I gave him some vitamins, too.

By the end of the day his comb still looked gross. So now he has a fresh coat of Blukote on his comb again.

No one else in my flock has this & I've never encountered anything like it. This has been going on for months now.

Anyone have any ideas?

How old is Teddy? (now I remember that he is 2 years old) Has his wound changed in size or shape at all? Any chance you ordered some of the tar that was mentioned? Do you notice any smell from the wound? I'm wondering about cancer or a more serious infection like staph. @azygous @Eggcessive @Wyorp Rock

The fact of him being pale is worrisome. Any chance you can get some pictures of what it looks like now?

I'm so sorry. Hopefully someone will have some wisdom to offer and help you get to the bottom of what's going on with Teddy 💚

I wonder if it could still be yeast but maybe needs something stronger, like lotramin or monistat? Hopefully the folks with a lot of knowledge will chime in
