Comb color genetics

Can anyone tell me how they work? Are they related to skin color (black/white/yellow?), or not? What are the genetics behind red or black combs? Would love it is someone could help me out.

Black skin = mulberry coloured comb; not-black skin = red comb. Genes that dilute skin (such as barring) will also dilute comb colour.
