Comb injury delaying laying?

My pullet Whiting True Blue is 22.5 weeks and hasn't started to lay yet. She was attacked at Christmas by the head of the pecking order a Bossy Leghorn. The leghorn went for her tender "pink" rosecomb and pretty much bit it off. I've been medicating it and watching the regrowth carefully. A portion of it is growing back and is turning the "red" comb color now. The 2 breeds were separated and are in separate coops at this time.
QUESTIONS: 1)DOES A COMB INJURY AS ABOVE DELAY LAYING?
2) WHAT OTHER DEVELOPMENTAL ISSUES ARE KNOWN ABOUT COMB INJURIES?

I don’t think a comb injury could possible cause a delay in laying. But a chicken that is being attacked by another flock member might be showing some sort of illness.
