Can anyone tell me what’s going on here with my barred rock’s comb? She was recently on anti inflammatory for a lame leg, which is now fine, in case that is helpful.

No other chickens are showing anything. They don’t look like scabs that we’re open, it almost looks a little glossy.

This is the other side of her comb.

Anyone hear know how to treat a newly hatched chick with crossed beak? Sorry it’s not replayed to this

I'm thinking it might be a fungal issue, maybe the start of favus but I'm not quite sure. Treatment for favus is miconazole applied to the comb until it disappears.
It is contagious to other birds and make sure you wear disposable gloves when applying the miconazole.

Thanks for this. We have had these girls since they were chicks, and they are about 18 months, but this is my first go round and we are always learning! To my eyes, it does have a fungal look. Would an OTC Monistat-like product work for this?

I've never dealt with a cross beak before. However I've dealt with birds that have had cracked beaks. In order for them to eat and drink, provide a deep bowl containing feed and add water to it to make a watery gruel. I would think that a cross beak would be able to eat and drink in that manner without having to pick up feed to eat from a feeder.
