I bought these about two weeks ago from the straight run bin. They are growing much faster and larger than my other chicks and feathering out more. Their legs and feet are massive! I was thinking they might be Roos...but I know it's still early. Any opinions? I have no clue on the breed. Was thinking some version of sex links.

I would agree with the some sort of sex link, which means they are female. Can't sex a sex link chick wrong, and most places do away with male sex links
It's sort of the point of sex linked chickens.

well...I was having that thought as well, but arguing with myself. I had taken to calling these bossy big'uns t-Rex and velociraptor. I guess if they are pullets they will have interesting names :D

Then again they could be a production red of some sort and indeed be roosters. If by the time their heads are fully feathered their combs aren't red then they are girls. But if their tiny combs get color to them rest assured they are male. Size of comb doesn't matter, look at leghorns. They have huge combs, but only the roos go red by end of feathering. Hens combs don't turn red until they are getting ready to lay

I highly doubt they are sex links. Why would they be in the strait run bin? They can be sexed as soon as they hatch. I am not sure what they are, but I would say no to sex link

I got 8 leg horns out of the leg horn bin at tsc and 2 of them ended up being Cornish X even though they didn't even have any Cornish X there that day...so when you are pulling them out of bins you don't really know unless you know what the chick's are because you know that breed or what not. Lol. Like I can usually spot a buff orpington because I've had a lot of BO chicks. Etc.

Hmmm good point about the sex links. Well it will be interesting to see how they turn out. Thanks for the input everyone.

My husband will be. That's his job. :) when I bought out of the bin I planned on butchering any cockerels unless they were really special. Meat birds will fall into that category too. I hope they are not, but if so then they will be put to good use.

Just an update. This one is starting to look like it will have a pea comb....but I'm guessing.

I still don't know what I have. I'm not familiar with Cornish X...are they pea combed?
