This chicken hatched on Easter from eggs I purchased online, and at first I thought she was a rooster. Friends’ kids named her “Roo.” She’s a survivor—something terrible happened to the rest of the flock (as many of you know), but she survived the attacks. She has a quirky, unforgettable comb and lays brown eggs.

I’m just curious about her background? Can it even be suggested?—she has a few random black feathers and that hilariously goofy comb at a fairly young age, which makes it impossible to take her seriously when she chatters NON- STOP. I mean she cant shut up.

Leghorn mix rooster, I thought many weeks/months ago. But now with brown eggs (at least I think it is her- because Isla cant lay 2 in one day), no crowing, and none of the other traits, Roo is a Ruby. Hmm.

Thanks!

Yes. To report, Gypsy chick is still very much alive and well- still with us. So it is just Roo, Isla and Gypsy Chick.
