Interesting. If it is not turning dark, it is not frostbite. You might try coating it with a little vasaline or other ointment to soften it up.

I have had the same problem with a few of mine and I thought it might be frostbite so I've been trying vaseline...if it continues to spread I might try like Lotrimin or something for a fungal problem...it has been pretty cold here....does anyone know if Favus is more prevalent in certain areas or where it comes from?

Welcome to BYC. White comb? Could be favus, a fungus. Miconazole will will take care of it...if that's what it is.
