Combining broody hens and clutches when hatched

That’s the weather and I’ve halved a cat box for nest boxes as the cages won’t fit.

I’m going to buy some substrate tomorrow so they are not on concrete.

Both mums are on the ground in th corner at the moment with he chick either under or around them.

I’m sure it won’t take long for them to adjust!

I’m pretty predator proof. I have two chickens that have a run and coop to themselves and they just go in and out as they please.

The only reason the other chickens in the other run and coop get put away is because of the rooster. I don’t want him bugging the neighbours.

And my geese get put away as their run isn’t enclosed

Following attempted to do this but then one mom wouldn’t co-parent,just kept beating the other mom.

When the chicks a

here is the setup. They will be able to see each other for a few days then maybe one of these days I’ll try free ranging both moms and see if maybe they will get along.Their very welcoming to one another’s chicks but these to have always hated each other.

I’ve put the nest boxes at the opposite sides of the run now so hopefully that will do the trick !
