Combs and laying

Combs don’t indicate quality or timing of laying.....just the color. When the color is red, it usually indicates that the hen is ready to lay. Different combs = different breeds. Different breeds are better layers than others.

Chickens have many different sizes and shapes of combs, Easter Eggers normally have a tiny pea comb. I know there's these "rules" to comb color and all... but my BW pullet with the largest reddest comb and wattles isn't laying yet, while my BO and EE pullets have pale combs and have been laying for a month.
Chickens just like to break the rules.
