Thank you for the offer, that's so sweet of you!

I'm sorry to hear this happened to you, too.

Thanks all of you for the comfort. It was her Easter chick (gifted to her by a relative), an EE that had been dyed pink. She's asked me a couple times where Pink is.

I'm hoping I can point out another of our 8 EEs and tell her, "There's Pink!" Hopefully it'll work since he'd begun feathering out. Is that awful of me?

No, thats not awful of you. We did an emergency run to the pet store the other day to replace 2 y.o's hermit crab. When they are this young ... I figure it doesnt hurt. They have plenty of time to grow up and learn to understand about the circle of life

When we first got chicks I am pretty sure I slept with them the first few nights I was so worried my son's chick would die. And it has been that way ever since. This year he picked out another chick(our BSL bantam) and so now that is the one I am on watch for that nothing happens to it. However, we are pretty vigilant and paranoid about predators and safety issues. Still, things happen. Maybe you had to wash pink because she got dirty playing outside? And when you did all the pink color came off.

No, it's motherhood. My daughters cat was hit by a car and my older daughter and I quickly buried it and never did tell her, and she was older

but she once told me she would rather not know if something bad happened to him, she would like to think someone took it cause it was so wonderful.
