Come Hatch along with Us!!! Setting Oct12-Oct 20th

24 hours after the first chick popped out of the egg, and we are still hatching out.

a couple more pipped eggs to go.
brooder is ready!

My update...BBS on day 21. Only 2 left One was a satinker...hope the other 2 arent the same as all 3 were dark...How i tell if they are viable but also can be really full of bacteria!!

Anyway 2 still in .AND put my 6 Palominio Brahmas in lock today too.
.
Also checked my EE eggs. One looked too big for the week they are in the rest looked the same.

OK, all 12 eggs accounted for.
I had 8 healthy hatchers.
! egg the head was oriented wrong, but fully developed. The other 2 died around day 16 and day 19 judging by yolk left in egg.
The last chick remains in the incubator. He is HUGE. I can't get over how freeking big this chick was. He is turkey sized. The problem is he was so big it looks like his legs and spine were effected - he is still having problems standing and walking. I am hoping he will stabilize as his bones harden and he learns to balance and walk.
So that's my report.
Hope everybody else does well and gets the desired results. I'll take 75% success any time with mailed eggs.

Day 22 No BBS at all of the 2 left.
Looked back on here and i see they took all weekend to get to me instead of Friday and some possibly werent new but 3 days old? when they were shipped so. too long for good fertility ..
Had 3 maybes then one stunk...now the other 2 .... zero..Too bad.

BUT Thursday is my palomino Brahama hatch Hope its better,. Local so should be unless my low humidity at times messed them up Day 17 all 6 or 5 any way for sure looked pretty good.
2 the air cells looked sort of small. but hopefully ok

I got both batches from the same guy in NY. I asked him to write "Fragile" On the box the second time, and this batch is doing much- MUCH better. Nearly all of them started, though about half quit, so my rate is still the same. But there is a huge difference, None of the first eggs started, and by day ten most of them were bad. Today is day 10 for batch 2, and I have at least 7 live dancing babies, and another I'm not sure about yet. It has veins, but it doesn't look quite right, I think it might have quit.

A lot of these eggs air cells were intact on arrival, I think marking the box as fragile made a big difference.

Miss Goldie has at least two babies. I don't mess with them because the Silkie hen is a few days behind and they have swapped eggs and everything else. I think the blue chick is a silkie, but the little black one may be a Serama baby. I won't know until I can see the feet. I think you can see the leg feathering a bit on the blue baby which is the dead giveaway to tell me it is a Silkie.
