TV show as well. This is something new for me.
Yes! There's many
This is the first G1 show it ran from 1986-1987
And it accompanied the toy line which came out in 1983 (following My Pretty Pony which came out in 1982)
There was another G1 show called My Little Pony Tales which came out in 1992. (There were also some toys that came with this show, in the G1 style but they were only released in a few places in Europe)
Then there was the G2 toys, but no show or specials accompanied this generation
Then in 2003 G3 came out and ran from 2003-2009
There was a series of specials that went with it
Then there was G3.5 which featured more drastically proportions but used the same core 7 from later G3. It came out in 2009.
And some specials went wjth it too.
Then in 2010 G4 came out, which came in like a storm. It had the longest running show going from 2010-2019, a 2017 full production movie released in theaters, a different series of movies, some specials, etc.
These were the main line brushables for G4:
But following the 2017 movie there was a reboot line with different proportions and a wider variety in poses.
Then in 2019 G4.5 came out with its own series "pony life" which was around slice of life show following the same mane characters from G4.
The G4.5 toys had EXTREMELY exaggerated features and really did look more cat-like
Then in 2021 a new generation movie came out accompanied by two more series (a short form 2d animated one, and a longer 3d animated one) as well another toyline. Following the movie this generation was the worst performing generation (previously a title held by G2 which was primarily only released in europe) and became the shortest lived generation.
Movie:
Make Your Mark Series:
Tell Your Tale series:
The G5 series were everywhere and not well organized... unfortunately the same is true for the toys. It wasnt entirely clear what line was the "mane line" and there were several lines without brushable manes and tails which had previously been MLPs main gimmick. Overall I do like the toys though.
Another interesting thing is G5 is the only generation to not have any returning voice actors in the main cast
Right now we're in a weird stage where MLP g5 has been prematurely canceled and had a much shorter run time than anticipated so we're not likely to get any new media until 2026. Hasbro said 2025 will mainly be focused on "Nastolgia" so I'm guessing we'll be getting some more reproduction ponies like the G1 reproductions we got from basic fun throughout 2024...
...sorry about the rambling. I could talk about this for hours
