I’m excited to be part of this duck club! These are my babies. I also have 3 welshie drakes that are sadly going to a new flock this weekend (ratio issue🙁). My cayuga, Spot, is my original duck. She’s had the name since we first candled her. There was a weird black spot in her egg that grew with her the first couple weeks and then disappeared one day. A month later our blue runners Peck (our drake) and Trooper hatched. Trooper was the first to pip and the very last of the 5 to hatch (we also had to assist bc she was too weak). Trooper stayed with me in a little modified cooking apron so i could keep a close eye on her for the first day and a half after she hatched. She couldnt stand, eat, drink or swim. She just slept. We didnt think she would make it, but pulled through after a couple days and was a regular duckling. My other 6 girls came as day olds from Metzer. They are all very sweet. Honeybun CONSTANTLY quacks (its annoying, but doesnt bother the neighbors, so thats good) and I’m pretty overprotective of Red. She had a bad seizure a couple months ago and I thought I was going to lose her. But shes happy and healthy and no more seizures since then.

everyone jon my duck club todays question of the day is
DUCK PONDS havs any ideas share images if possible
Yes! We are so proud! We built a duck pond ourselves with little money. Got the apprx. 300 gal. Rubbermaid stocktank on super sale and cut it down to a more reasonable depth. We dug a hole, put down sand and set tank in. We put in an underground drain and pvc pipe. (Ball and cock valve/handle underground under stone---just turn and it all drains for cleaning! It's 5 ft. diameter. We laid New England flat stones all around it. Now, grass and wildflowers have grown in. Our 2 ducks and Mayflower, our pet Pilgrim goose LOVE the pond so much! It was fun to build and we love sitting in lawnchairs and watching them all have a blast in the pond! (Photos of what we did and how we did it are here on our 'projects' page: https://www.thecountryladyantiques.com/contact.php

Here are some pictures!

This is the day we built it. First swim. In other photos you can see the grass and wildflowers now grown up among the rocks. Our girls just go crazy for this pond!
