Comical Show and a Dream come True

Me too! Never thought it would happen unless we moved to the country (which is our #1 desire). My husband also had experience with chickens when he was younger so was never thrilled with the idea. Then he surprised me on mother's day with hand sketched image of a portable chicken coop with a chicken inside. I cried. He's since finished the coop but our little ones are only 5 days old so they're in the spare bathroom for a while. I say "our" little ones because he's now SO into it. I think we need a bigger bathroom! Yesterday my daughter came over with her three children and we all piled in that small room to peek into the brooder sitting on the toilet, 4 of us in the bathtub.

I still prefer to be in the country but commitments prevail. Maybe next mother's day I'll get a sketch of a little farm:)

We want to get moved to the coutry too. It will be soooo nice. We have an idea of getting a "few" more "farm" animals at that time too. I'm 42 now and just finally getting started into chickens like I wanted. I told a friend that I had to make sure I spent time with my chickens at a certain time today...and she just laughed and said I was silly--they are "just" chickens...She doesn't understand.... LOL:yiipchick

I love watching my chicks; they are very comical! I fed them some watermelon yesterday. One got a big piece of it an took off. The others followed suit and chased her around til she finally dropped it. And another grabbed it and it started over. Finally one of my little black chicks got it and took off. She got in a corner and gobbled it up before the others could get to her!
My little Leghorn roo (at least, I think it's a roo--it's the same age as the others and twice as big, slower feathering and stands like the roosters we had when I was a kid) had a similar experience last night with a moth. He dropped it once but was able to get it back and chow down! My 9 yr old niece was watching and thought it was funny and gross at the same time.
