I went to get feed and all they had at this feed store was a medicated turkey feed. I was looking for non medicated.
He told me if you feed and medicated feed you can not eat the birds. Is that a true statement? I am on my second year with birds and my second hatch still have so much to learn.

You need to cycle the birds for 14 days on non medicated feed before consumption. It's not that they are never edible again, they just aren't edible while they are consuming medicated and until the medication leaves their system.

Its been my understanding that you should not feed quail medicated feed. I did call purina and asked their Vet if I could feed medicated purina startina to quail. The answer was no they can not process the medication and it wiil kill them.

DC X2 It is not that you can't ever eat them, you just don't want to eat them with the amprolium still in their system. Eventually every drug breaks down in the tissues of the bird. Wait 2 weeks and you should be good to eat them. And their eggs.
