Hey everyone, I'm doing a little presentation on commercial turkey production and AI and there's actually not a lot of info out there, i was wondering if some of you would have an idea...

in a commercial, mass-production setting, how many eggs does a hen turkey produce in a year/season? (ie the nicholas whites or broad breasted whites)

How old are the hens before they begin breeding and how long are they generally kept before they are slaughtered and replaced?

Just for the record, I'm not condoning the way turkeys are raised commericially, I'm just doing a presentation for my animal science/reproduction class on how turkeys are produced :)

Thanks!

Any of the agricultural universities that have poultry programs will have that information available. All the ag universities put out newsletters on line with information about whatever livestock or plant they specialize in.

Commercial poultry information is what they will be providing, but you will have to do some googling.
