Hey All

I don't normally post, but have been reading for quite a while. thanks to all for the knowledge. I had an experience the other day when I offered to let a neighbor raise a hen at my house for his daughters 4-h interests. I thought after that it may be another good data fact for chicken ordinances. I haven't researched this but it seems like it would work if it hasn't been presented to the debate. Interested in your feedback on this topic.

Not sure what your asking. However my kids are in 4H and I was told by the 4H leader that they are allowed to have chickens because they are in 4H and it's for their project.

I would love info on this topic? Would they leave you alone if your kids are in 4H? I have not been turned in yet, I have had my chickens in my back yard for a year now. I am just waiting to be popped. We love our chickens they are so much fun and have such great personality!

In our local small city, animals that are normally listed as "livestock" including chickens and pigs are expressly allowed IF and ONLY IF the animal is a 4-H project. Otherwise they are expressly banned.

I'm outside the city limits and have chicken in the front yard.

We had a family join our club simply to allow them to keep the pet pork-belly that the city ordinances forbid UNLESS it was a 4-H project.

Roosters are still a problem, as are any 4-H project animals that create multiple complaints from neighbors.

It is all about courtesy when you live close together.

Thanks!

While SOME cities allow animals for 4-H projects that are normally forbidden, that does not mean that ALL cities allow this. Research your own city codes before making that assumption.
