Comparison of 3 Nutrena Feeds

Early Update:

This is day 4 of changing to Layer feed/Manna Pro Omega Supplement/flake oyster shell, and the 5th day of offering a separate layer vitamin supplement in water if they so choose.

My older hen has not had an opps egg in a week now. Knock on wood. If I can get that to where it is not very often, I will be happy.

Whichever little (and I'm beginning to think it was the same one because the oops eggs were all very small) had 4 oops eggs in three days, just went three days without having one, but did overnight again. Instead of being paper thin, it was still thin enough to break, but I detected a bit more hardness to the shell, and I can tell now it is either a NH or the Welbar, because there was enough calcium to show color and it was definitely brown. Before, it was so thin, I wasn't even sure of color. One of them laid two very small peewee sized eggs before this started happening, and I haven't gotten another egg that size since, so I think there is just one with a problem, not a full flock thing.

The good news...

Lucille, one of my NH had her first egg, and holy cow! It was the same size as the mature hens are laying! The egg weighed 2.26 ounces and has a nice thick shell. I hhad a second NH egg that size the next day, but didn't see who laid it, so don't know if two of them, or both from Lucille.

The littles will be 21 weeks tomorrow, and a most are squatting now, so I need to really watch the boxes and see if I can narrow down to who has problems. If I can, I'll give her calcium supplements and try to get their little system on track, if a couple of weeks of boosted nutrition and calcium in these other ways does not work. I know I need to give it a bit of time.

Fingers crossed that the next update is good!
