Four years ago I moved to the country across from my daughter, at their request. I moved to a nice place with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and 5 acres. It seemed like all the room in the world after having lived in the burbs all my life. Well... after putting in a garden, making a big yard for the dogs and a little coop with some hens, 5 acres didn't seem like all that much. I was surrounded by woods on three sides. Then the neighbor from hell moved in behind me. What's the first thing he did? He built a race track, right on his border for him and his brother and his dad to race their four wheelers around in circles constantly. I hate 4-wheelers so much I cannot begin to tell you.
Now I'm in a little 2 bedroom 1 bath house just a mile away, but I have 36.6 acres. THIS is heaven. There isn't anyone close to me because the previous owner had the insight to put the house and out-buildings smack in the middle of the property.
Go for as much land as you can afford.
