I just have to share this experience....I fell today cleaning up the backyard. I took a pretty good fall and shrieked out in pain and then noticed my wyandotte hen running to get to me as fast as she could to console me! She hopped into my lap and started to gently tug at my hair, talking to me in her wyandotte language as if I were "her chick!" It absolutely amazed me. Has anyone else ever experienced a chicken a coming to save the day?

That is very sweet. Other folks say they are afraid to fall down in the midst of the flock - because the birds might munch on them.

I have read accounts on BYC where people would say a rooster flogged them and hens came to attack and drive him off. Some birds seem to be very attuned to their humans even when treats aren't involved.

That's sweet. I experience that everyday. I have a NASTY d'Uccle rooster. However, I have two other Japanese roosters and a very dominant Mottled Houdan hen that crows. Those three peck and herd the rooster away from me. It's cute to think I'm chickens are looking after me, haha.

Now, are you ok? Falls can be quite nasty. Hope you're not hurt.
