COMPLETELY Getting rid of mites in barn. Infestation... HELP

I use Insectrin spray by Prozap to spray my barn and coops when I do my spring/fall clean outs. I have used Adams flea and tick spray for pets on my birds with excellent results. Remember to re-treat everything, coops and birds, every 7-10 days to break the mites hatch cycle.

The Adams spray can usually be found in any pet shop or feed/supply store, Amazon has it as well. The Insectrin X for the coop is a concentrated spray that you mix up, I also bought it on Amazon. I've only had to treat a case of mites a couple of times in many years. But that is what prompted me to spray my coops twice a year when I do a complete cleanout. My birds get a spray of Adams under each wing and the vent area each time I deworm which is usually three times a year.

My coop was infested severely, about a year ago. It caused so much stress (and I too cried myself to sleep on a couple occasions). I lost one hen to the infestation, and when I held a bird and ended up with hundreds of those pesky mites crawling up my arm, I had had enough. I was very close to getting rid of all of my birds. But several thorough dustings of sevin throughout the coop and the birds, and scrubbing every crevice in my coop seemed to finally take care of the infestation once and for all.

thank you so much thought it would easy to take care of my chickens I had chicken lice , I guess that is mites this time some of the hens feathers gone on there necks real close I can not see them I don't know what is worse

That confuses me, I had a chicken that we culled and we seen mites crawling all over the thing! I'm unsure what to do...I do not have a powerwasher but u plan on getting some Permethrin.

Red mites are normally brown. They only look red after sucking your chickens' blood. Take a deep breath and relax, they are not the end of the world.
In fact you can't even see the end of the world from where you are even if you were standing on a red mite's back. I also like to mix a good pesticide with used motor oil then use a brush to paint the roost with this mixture making sure to work it deeply into the wood roost poles. Red mites don't live on your birds, they day in the cracks in the wood and come out after dark to feed returning to their strong hold when the Sun comes out like Dracula..

They are not red mites (thank God) they're as small as a pencil dot and they are a light brown.

The moniker RED MITE refers to the red mite after they have enjoyed a feast of chicken blood.

I use permethrin spray concentrate, which is available at feed store and labeled for use on poultry and their housing. NOT on cats!!!
It works great, and there's no egg withdrawal when used as directed in the USA.
Mites and lice are nasty, do treat the birds and the coop! Go out at night with a flashlight, and spray the chickens while roosting. Easy!
It's best to clean out all the bedding; I use permethrin dust on the floor under the new bedding, and spray every inch of the coop.
