OMG! Sounds like you have a naked neck! Also called Turkens. I have nns in my flock. I love my nns.![]()
Got home and one has hatched. Another has peeped. Its black with no hair on its neck. Kinda wierd, maybe it will come in later?
Hopefully we get more!
Hens can be fertile from a roo for at least 3 weeks or more! I want a black nn. I have browns and whites...lol I'll show you a couple of mine when they were young and a couple adults.Well....the guy i got the hens from had a NN rooster! But i had them home for a week before i started getting eggs for hatching.
I didn't care for the look the first time I saw them, but I was excited when I hatched one and they quickly grew on me. Many people think there's something wrong or they are just plain ugly. Most of the time they are brown egg layers. My two brown ones lay these big green eggs, because my momma nn is a nn/ee and her daughter carried the traits. My whites lay a light brown I believe. I've never been able to figure out which ones are their's. Some chicks take longer than others to get on their feet. I've had chicks up and moving within 20 minutes of hatching and I've had others that were just starting to find their legs and energy a good hour or more after. If you've already moved it to the brooder under the light, don't expect a lot of running around for a while. Even my fast acting ones in the bator, slow down and stay pretty much under the light when I move them for a couple hours or more before they really start moving and exploring.Yep its a naked neck then. I dont really care for the look but i hear they are good brown egg layers. How long should it take for it to walk? Right now it just kinda lays under the heat lamp and scoots
Thanks to all of you for the help. Ill post more pics as they hatch.
