Completly lost. Trying to hatch eggs

Next question. I checked all air sacs today and all but one look exactly the way they are supposed to on day 13. The one that is not looking as it should appears to have lost more liquid than all the others. The chick is still very active inside so I am assuming that all is well. The air sac looks more like it should on day 18. Also, this is not one of the ones with the detached air sacs, those two look great. Is there something I should be doing for this egg?

I wouldn't assume anything. However, I'd give it at least a couple hours to make sure it's not going to continue to increase.

I tested this thing for 2 hours today and it leveled out at 75% and stayed there so I am calling it good and relying on it through lock down beginning on Tuesday.

The humidity in my bator varies from 20 to 30% daily and the eggs seem fine so far except the one mentioned earlier.

There's not much you can do for a single egg in regards to humidity besides pray and cross your fingers. If I am using a wet sponge in my bator for humidity and have a couple that seem bigger than I like I put them closer to the sponge, if I have any that seem a bit small, I move them away. Logic being the sponge being the source of humidity. Doing this probably doesn't do much more than make my brain feel better, but oh well...lol

Well no more hatches yet. Some of these eggs got refrigerated for a few hours before incubation. We will give it more time and see what happens

Guys i have been reading just about everything i can find here on hatching eggs with a LG bator and it seems to be mostly contradictive.
Can one of you please help me out here with some straight advice?

I have had the eggs in for 4 days. It took a day to learn how to get the thing to hold a good temp. Im turning them twice a day. I have been wetting a little paper towel to try and help with humidity but i dont have a way to measure it.


So what i have is a used LG, no fan or turner. Im using one of my very expensive fluke thermometer and k type thermocouple to monitor temp which i have got to hold between 100 and 102°F.

I have resd some stuff about keeping a certain RH throughout the process and others say do it dry until day 18 and then keep it high.


Whats my best plan of attack as far as humidity goes? Should i just keep the reservoir full? Or wait and then put wet rags in later?

You can get a thermometer/humidity thing at lowes there only like ten bucks it's been pretty accurate for me and it's digital

Well, last night i was curious so i candled whats left. I found one that might be a quiter and the rest were full. But only two had movement. One was internally pipped and another was just moving. After i got home i found that anoyher yellow chic had hatched and another egg had pipped.

So far its 7 of 15 and possibly 8 soon. Im not sure of the others but i will give them at least one more day

Well no hatches last night and the incubator is starting to develop a nasty smell. Its day 24, 23, and 22. I may call it quits today and clean the incubator out and start collecting eggs for the next round.

Called it quits. Cleaned out the incubator and disinfected. Opened all 8 remaining eggs and found 7 fully developed embryos but no signs of life.

Looks like i ALMOST had a really good hatch rate. Any tips would be appreciated. I have a proper thermo hygrometer that i plan on using next time. But other than that i dont know the reason i lost them. Not turning enough? I think they have a turner at TSC that will fit this incubator.

I only turn 3 times a day. I use a low humidity incubation method and check air cells to adjust. For my standard eggs I run 30% and run dry when I can, use a sponge when I can't. High altitude hatching is a headache of it's own.
