Well... I have hatched out 16 chicks so far this year, plus 14 eggs in my incubator due to hatch Wednesday and a broody sitting on 18 eggs. My family said "NO MORE HATCHING THIS YEAR!" But... Some unexpected eggs coming late from a swap are due to arrive on Friday. I don't know what to do. Please help me

LOL, I got bit last year, hatched out 20, kept 10 the rest went to freezer camp... Decided I want to raise a more dual purpose breed, the hens hatched last year have just started laying and then I heard Wilco had some chicks in...Made a "feed run" and lo and behold came home with 31 chicks, BO's, JG's, RIR, Leghorns and Marans...added to that a couple of barred rocks and sex links, Decided to incubate some purchased eggs, 10 hatched...Promised family that this was it, wouldn't be incubating or buying anymore...well then heck, got a hen that may want to be broody so I am saving a few eggs from my older hens, BA's, Java and EE's.....

So here is what I have...

Adults :
3 Ba's
2 Ancona's
2EE's
1 Java
10 new layers all from the above hens
2 Roosters, 1 Blue Orpington Juvi (just started to try and crow)
and 41 babies ranging in age from 6 weeks to 3 weeks

Hahahaha that's how my life is going. Hatched out 2 on a power outage hatch. (Heading to freezer) bought 6 from coastal (replacement layers ) when I was suppose to just get a new waterer... I put 10 eggs in my bator and got 8 chicks. ( some I'm keeping some I'm selling) my hen went broody on 18 eggs (all to freezer probably) and I have eggs on the way... AGHHH

LOL, I told myself not more than 6 eggs would I allow her to have....but, that darn chicken math...I'm going to move her into the broody box tonight and give her some dummy eggs and see how she does, if in two days she has passed the test I will switch them out for fertile eggs...I have 5 eggs saved so far, no telling how many I'll let her sit by the time I determine how determined she is

I was gone for a week and when I came back I couldn't tell which eggs were new eggs an which ones she started with. So now I forgot to mark them and she steals the eggs out if the other nests... I'm in deep doo doo

Why didn't I think of that...I could always claim its chicken math when she ends up with 12 eggs
