Compost pile with dog poop

My chickens leave the dog poop alone too. However, I do pooper scoop after the dogs, but I toss it over he fence into our pasture that surrounds our entire property. I’m thankful I have that option.

The OP said the backyard is tiny. I would look into a Doggy Dooley or similar system, where you sink a large container in the ground to compost the dog poop and still keep it safe from chickens or other animals. It's almost like a mini septic system.

Meanwhile, what's to be grossed out by something that comes out of your body and every other living body on the earth every day? If you're a mother you may well have spent years touching it. The issue isn't that there is feces on this planet but what to do about it. Hint: pretending it doesn't exist isn't one of the best strategies.

I don't think it is possible to deny it's existence it is everywhere.
Being slightly disgusted is coded into us, were are driven to avoid it due to it being full of bacteria and possible pathogens.
It stinks for a reason, to make it revolting.
It is a big and only getting bigger elephant in the room, that is for certain.

and to know that for centuries it has been used as a source of fertilization in many cultures. It's all in the time period of composting.

Indeed I studied that humanure in high school and remember a good deal of it.
