compost?

I made my own compost tumbler for CHEAP. It works great, and if there is enough water and air circulation, wood shavings actually break down pretty fast.

We got a 33 gal plastic garbage can with locking lid for $9 at The Dollar General. Drilled holes all in it, including top and bottom, with a 1/2 drill bit. Add compost. Add a little water. Bought some worms and threw in there. Every now and then, I go out and attach a bungy cord across the lid (it locks, but I want to make doubly sure it doesn't fly open) and roll it around in the yard for a bit. Set it back up, give it a spray with some water, and call it done until next time. Works great! and ours has wheels, so we just wheel it over to the chicken coop to add the shavings and poo, then wheel it back to where it belongs.

I'm telling ya, it works GREAT and keeps the chickens from trying to eat rotten vegetables!

Wow, the garbage can idea sounds great...I just might have to try that!
