I have some hens I treated for bumblefoot and it’s obvious they’re in pain. I’m going to compound some meloxicam for them. I’m planning on following guidelines of 0.5 mg/kg once daily dosing.

Is Orablend (compounding syrup) safe for chickens?

Or do I need to track down propylene glycol and 1% methylcellulose solution?

Side note: is celecoxib safe for chickens? (It is for other birds.) Does it work better? Anyone have dosing guidelines if it is safe?

Here is the dosing for Meloxicam. https://poultrydvm.com/drugs/meloxicam#:~:text=Meloxicam (brand name Metacam®,associated with the gastrointestinal tract

That is probably safer and better than aspirin, but I would think you're only doing this for a day or two so aspirin would be okay. Chickens can have 120 mg aspirin. Baby aspirin is 81 mg. You could cut those in half and give 40 mg. three times a day.

For your celecoxib, generally, anything safe for birds is safe for chickens, but it's the dosage that needs to be considered.
