computer cursor jumping across screen.

My computer cursor has been jumping all over the screen, dragging and dropping things, and inserting letters into previously typed words. Does anyone know a solution to this?

Is it a touch pad? Mine does that sometimes when I accidentally rest my hand on it. Drives me insane when it starts typing in a different place

You could also try spraying some windex on a paper towel and wiping the pad (if it is) and see if that helps. If it's a mouse the track ball may need to be taken out and cleaned.

Thanks for the replies. This must have double posted... I just cleaned it with windex and I will see how it works.

mine has started doing that to night !!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have a wireless mouse you just need a fresh battery. I've fixed wired ones with this problem by cleaning them.
