Computer question

There are lots of different companies that sell USB drives. They are pretty versatile and durable. Get one that looks good to you and has the features you want. For example, I like metal bodies that are relatively thin so it doesn't block the adjacent USB port and have the ability to attach a lanyard to it (so I don't lose it so easily).

Prices for these are pretty cheap online, I think $20 can get you something like 4 or 8GB, if I recall correctly.

And like everyone said already, they act as a drive on your computer, much like your hard drive. You access and use it in the exact same fashion, with the addition that you can stop the device and remove it.

Very handy to have, but also keep in mind that it is another avenue to get some bad software (viruses) onto your computer.
