My family and I started raising chickens last spring. We raised 5 Rhode Island Reds from chicks and added 4 more this year all seemed very healthy. About 1 week ago I found one of the older ones dead in the run, there was no signs of foul play. Yesterday I was checking on them after work and another chicken began to stumble, convulse, fell over and died. It looked like a little discharge left her mouth. Please help!

Thanks for reaching out. The everyone in the flock looks ok. Egg production was a little low meaning we were only getting 2-3 eggs from the 4 older birds, but i chalked that up to the time of year. I will check out the link. Also, I got some antibiotic to add to their water from a local farm supply store. Thought I might start there.

Is there any chance they got into pesticide or fertilizer spray, or rodent bait? Please post at "emergencies, diseases, injuries, cures," thread in fullest detail possible. Do your birds free range?

They do free range but just in our yard, and we don't use any pesticide or fertilizer.
