Adults can get it if wet humid pens and stress...Misconception ....Many strains of coccidiosis ...Only Vaccinated for the one strain...I feed medicated to Chicks till 6 to 8 weeks...
We feed medicated feed also. Pen is dry and am not sure what they would be stressed about. Nothing has changed in the past two months. They come and go as they please.Adults can get it if wet humid pens and stress...
two year ben that was acting strange...in that hunched position that they go into when they are ready to lay an egg, she was breathing really hard, and her comb had turned to a dark purple color. She would thenstumble a few steps and goback into the hunched position.
I live in northern Wisconsin. How old is she?
You feed medicated feed - how long?
Your description makes me think she is having difficulty laying an egg. See that she is drinking well, has extra calcium (TUMS, calcium carbonate like Caltrate, etc. can be given), if you have some poultry nutri-drench direct dose her with that too at 1cc per 3lbs of weight.
It very well could be something like Coccidiosis too.
I see you mention they have plenty of room, but they live in a Silo Room? Do you have any photos of that? If you can provide us with your general location that can sometimes be helpful as well.
At night it get down to the teens but they have heat lamps. For the last few days, it has been getting up to the 40s.Temp drops?...Cold weather?
I'm Canadian so Celsius is my thermometer ..At night it get down to the teens but they have heat lamps. For the last few days, it has been getting up to the 40s.
She is two years old. I bought her from my neighbor when she was six months old. I also had just got my first batch of egg chicks from Meyer Hatchery. They were getting medicated feed and so she got it too.How old is she?
