Can you mix conditioner feed into your regular food. Surely it's ment to be mixed into other food. You'd go broke buying those little bags... anyone use it?

I'm not familiar with conditioner feed, but I imagine it is something designed for breeding stock? If so, yes, you should be able to just mix some in to your regular feed. If your regular feed is layer feed, you may want to set out a separate dish with crushed oyster shells, since their calcium source in the regular feed will be getting diluted.

I guess it depends how much of it you are mixing in to your feed. If you mix in much, then your layer feed won't have the same amount of calcium in it. If it's just a tiny amount, then it should be fine. In either case, if you start getting thin shelled eggs, just provide the oyster shell, get it in bulk, should be about $0.50/lb or so.

The supplement looks like good stuff, fish meal is good protein, especially if your layer feed has no animal proteins in it.

I think I'll give it a whirl. I think the rooster would enjoy it. Maybe I'll just toss a bit on the ground with the scratch for the hens.

There's directions on the bag as to what ratio you should mix it with your feed. I think it's 10% or 5lbs. to a 50lb. bag of feed. Info should be on Manna's website. I believe some people feed at a higher ratio when using it to condition birds for show or trying to bring them back after an illness.
