How old are they? You should be able to tell from their voices long before they get drake feathers in. Usually I see them cropping up around 16-18 weeks in my guys, voices you can usually tell by 6-8 weeks. :) females QUACK loudly and sharply, and males make a raspy, softer version of a quack. Like a quack with laryngitis. Or a chain smoking duck. 🤣

They are 16 weeks now. However, they don’t really quack or sound raspy. I posted a few weeks back and no1 could confirm the noises. Some said still peeping. I do think I might have all 3 drakes or 2 & 1. Really annoying that I can’t tell 😂

Hmm, I went and found your other post. If they all still sound like that I’m going to go with the probability being all boys, unfortunately. I do feel that the lightest one has very drake specific feathering on his breast too. That claret color doesn’t usually show up on girls. The darker one is harder to tell but it looks male to me as well; the head has quite a sheen to it from what I can see. Hard to say for the more “mallard” coloured one - if not for the voice I would be leaning towards female for that one. They may still surprise you though. I wouldn’t bet any money on those tails just yet.

Or fortunately i guess, if you’re cool with an all drake flock. Those work well too. :)

an updated voice video may help. I find they change a lot over a few weeks when they’re switching from peeps to quacks. My one drakelet I would’ve sworn was female based on his voice if I hadn’t vent sexed him. Lol.

Also, if you have a helper, sometimes if you pick one up and take it away from the group they’ll protest rather than just making little sounds. Sometimes it’s more obvious then. :)

I will post another voice video tomorrow in daylight. They have changed a little, it’s got louder but still not a definite quack! I do think all drake but the mallard colouring is slightly louder (I think) than the other two. Also doesn’t seem to be showing any sign of drake feathers.
I was hoping for 3 females for eggs but seems my luck was out, lol! If I have 1 female I have another 3 white runners on standby but think that would be too many ducks for my outside space, may need to seek new homes for a pair if that happens. 😢

🤣 honestly when we pick them up they don’t make a peep! It’s like they refuse to tell me
