Confirmation from Holderread's??

By the time I get mine I will have gone through..... what? 14 failed egg hatches and about a year of waiting..... ORDER NOW for spring 2012 goslings from holderread's!! Take it from me and just do what Pete says in the first place instead of being impatient and buying eggs to hatch and having that fail miserably so you end up having to just wait any way, and could have saved a bunch of money and heart ache. ORDER NOW!!

It is because of you that I want some.
They look (and sound) like something I would truly enjoy.

Not to be a wet blanket, but one possible reason for a lack of a confirmation is that they are still planning what they will produce next year. They have dropped quite a few breeds lately and it is possible that they won't produce Dewlaps (what breed are you talking about? only heavy geese have dewlaps) Dave was very proud of his Heavy geese but he is no Spring chicken anymore and seems interested in his mini geese lately. So If I were interested in Heavy geese (or any other bird) I would order and send deposit and hope that you are able to get some of his limited production.
Another reason could be that this is the best window for shipping adult birds, neither too hot nor cold. If he is cutting back you know he will be busy shiping his breeding flock now.
Good Luck with your order.~gd

I did not get a confirmation. Your deposit goes in the mail and maybe the info doesn't get transferred to their email accounts until shipping time.

You can check with your bank to see if your check was cashed. I emailed about another issue and got my order confirmed at that time. The confirmation was that they had received my order, not that they had a bird for me. They won't know until spring whether or not they've got goslings and when.

Because they are liquidating, I have made arrangements to buy adults if they are not going to have goslings for me in the spring. I would love to purchase their breeding flock of my breed, but I'm afraid my bank account won't stretch that far.

Goosedragon - its Dewlap Toulouse that we're talking about here and hopefully Holderreads are continuing with them. I know some of the breeds have now gone but from earlier correspondence with them its appears that they're planning to breed both the Greys and Buffs in 2012. However as I'm in the UK I may not be fully up to date with any new developments. I know they declined further shipments to the UK

Yep it is the dewlaps and my deposit was sent weeks ago. Hopefully I get some goslings.

Just checked on my order/deposit and they are going to call me back after she gets a chance to look for it after lunch. She said they will still have dewlaps in the spring and rumors are everywhere. She had another call today that heard they were retiring online. I told her "It would have been nice to know you were retiring, huh?" You have to wonder if the rumor was from right here on BYC. I'll update when she calls back.

Please note that I said nothing about retiring! They are not young anymore and they have dropped some breeds but I can't picture Dave retiring. There is a big difference between cuting back your work load and retiring, at age 69 I should know! ~gd
Oragon Blue that is normal, Nobody KNOWS what they will hatch next year! That is why you get in line once you are sure of what you want. Even if they hatch thousands the number is still limited.

Yep, someone asks a good question like will get confirmation, and then the rumors go nuts saying they are selling off everything. I can't imagine doing all the breeds they do at the level they do at the same age. Impressive all I. It's own.
